RULES

  1. No Drama. It makes the alligators cranky and your Mod doesn't like it either. We're all grown ups here. Drama and cliquish Junior High behavior is cause to be exiled to District Thirteen.

  2. Actively participate. Non Mentor Victors and Supporting Characters are expected to post at least twice monthly. Mentors are expected to post at least once weekly and to regularly interact with their Tributes during training as well as participate in Sponsor activities for their Tributes while they are in the Arena. All Tributes must post at least one two to three paragraph narrative or one log per week. They must also comment at the weekly check in post that will be put up in the Arena. Tributes that do not post weekly or fail to check in will be killed off ahead of schedule. Tribute activity above the minimum requirements will be rewarded. See FAQ for details. Players who have not met the minimum activity with their Supporting Characters will be swept at the end of game before the next round begins.

  3. IC ≠ OOC.

  4. Play with everyone. Yes, we're serious. Let's pretend this is preschool again and everybody likes each other and wants to share the bouncy thing.

  5. Four character limit

  6. No Godmodding.

  7. Respect your fellow players OOC. Don't make President Snow have to step in.

FAQ

How long will this game last? How long will my characters be around? Will there be future opportunities to play my characters after game's end?

The current third round of gameplay begins May 7th and is slated to last approximately three weeks followed by a fourth round beginning June 7th and lasting 3 weeks. One week will be devoted to training and the reaping and gameplay begins the day of the reaping. The time in the arena will last approximately two weeks, plus or minus a few days on either end, based on activity and how quickly Tributes are killed off. Approximately seven to ten characters will be dying per week, after the initial blood bath. There will be three days after the end of the games for the winning Tribute to return to the Capitol and for support and mentor reactions/logs/etc to wrap up.

Mentors and Support staff will be around the entire game. Tributes will die as the game progresses. Some Tributes will die at the Cornucopia or within the first forty eight hours of gameplay. These are not noted on the holds list but most of them have been already cast. Players of cornucopia Tributes will be notified at game start and asked to keep their identity secret. The order of these deaths will in part be determined by player activity during training. The rest of the Tributes will die by one by one until the Winner is the only survivor. The Tribute Kill Slot order is a combination of random chance, character activity, and several other modifiers including district modifiers and training scores. In these two rounds, we have predetermined Canon winners, Woof for the 27th and Seeder for the 28th. Those roles were cast via an open anonymous casting from the existing players.

After the game's end, if there is enough interest in future games, players may come back with their Mentor/Support characters and take on another set of Tributes for future games. Those players who do not wish to continue will have their characters placed back up for grabs. Winners would become Mentors and may continue to be played in future games or relegated to NPC status. The game can potentially last as long as there is interest, with short two to four week intervals in between games to apply for new Tributes and formulate a new arena. At this point we are committed to playing through the 30th games and will then take stock of interest and future other opportunities.
How many and what sort of characters can I hold?

Each player may play three characters to start. Two may be held at the onset and a third held and applied for after the other applications have been turned in. After a round of play is complete, a player may app a fourth character in a supporting role. Players may play one Tribute and up to three support members/mentors or four support/mentor characters. The exception would be players who elect to play a Tribute who is killed in the bloodbath. These players may play two Tributes and one support character.
When does the game take place?

The Odds began with the Twenty-Fifth hunger games, which was the first Quarter Quell and was twenty five years after the dark times. The first Quarter Quell was a deviation from the normal picking of Tributes. In the first Quarter Quell, the districts were forced to elect their Tributes rather than them being randomly selected from the pool of all the district's children. The current games will be the 27th and 28th Hunger Games.
How is the order of Tribute death decided? Can I ask to change the order?

The initial order of tribute death (or Kill Slot Order) has already been randomly decided before applications even begin using a random number generator to get a starting number between 1 and 25. All career districts additionally get their score modified by -2 points to account for advantages they may have going into the game. This initial score is known only to the moderator and will be told to no other player at any point. Kill Slot order can not be changed by asking, however it can be modified by player activity. Moderator Tributes are selected prior to scores being determined, to assure fairness to all concerned. The initial score will be lowered further by participation in training. On each day of training (for five days) a gamemaker entry will be posted where characters can interact/train/explain what they are doing/etc. For every day of participation, however brief, the player will get an additional point added to their training score. This can be as long or little as you like, and a few short sentences showing your character was there and training will suffice. Players that do not participate that day will have a point deducted from their training score. All players will begin with an initial training score of five, with the exception of Careers, who will begin with a six. The final training score will be announced in game for each player and it will be subtracted from your character's initial score.

After the games begin in the arena, player activity is the most important part of modifying your character's death order. All Tributes are expected to have at least one short narrative or log per week of game play as per the rules. They must also check in at the weekly "Game Recap" posted by the Gamemakers, stating briefly where their character is in the arena and what they have been doing. Those that do not respond or post will automatically be bumped up in the Kill Slot order and be the next to die, giving others a reprieve. This is an unbending rule with no exceptions. In addition, players may have their score adjusted down by an additional point for every short narrative/log they post in the arena with a maximum total of seven entries per week and for a total of up to -8 points per week including the weekly check in. Each of these journal entries must take place on a different day. Likewise, as in training, characters who do not post on a given day will have a point added to their kill score, nullifying previous post points and slowly increasing their kill slot order. Multiple entries per day will not count towards points. Please note, Tribute characters may not use their journals to interact after the games have begun. All posts most take place inside the Arena, therefore journal entries do not count for activity. At the end of each day, scores will be adjusted to reflect activity, and characters will die in the order of highest score to lowest score, with the lowest score ultimately being the game runner up.
    Example: Female Tribute District 8
    Initial Score: 17
    District Modifiers: 0
    Training Score with 3/5 Activity: 5 + (3 x 1)-(2 x 1) = 6
    Score Entering Arena: 17 - 0 - 6 = 11
    Week One (5 posts + check in - 2 days missed activity) = -4
    Week Two ( 3 posts + check in - 4 points missed activity) = 0
Score going into Week Three = 13
So the order of Tribute death is a secret? When do I find out where and when my tribute will die?

The order of Tribute deaths is a closely guarded secret in game. Each player will be asked to place a comment screened post in their journal as a drop box, where the mod can notify them of game events that should be kept private. At the beginning of each day in the Arena, the moderator will notify the players who have Tributes slated to die letting them know they are next in order. The player then has twenty four hours to supply the moderator with three characters they would like to kill their character. Gamemaker death may be counted as one character. These characters, along with three randomly selected characters will be entered into a pool from which the killer (and an alternate) will be chosen. The killer will then be notified by the moderator in their dropbox. The players will then be expected to write a short log and put it up during a specific point during the course of that coming week. They will be told if they will be first, second or third to die during the week and should post their log at the appropriate place before/after the logs of others have been posted. All players are asked to keep the identity of the tributes and the details of the log a secret until it goes up in order to keep the game suspenseful and hold with the spirit of the Hunger Games being a "live televised" event for an audience. Death Logs should be marked appropriately with warnings and ratings and placed behind a cut. If for some reason both the player of the Tribute and the Player of the Killer can not conceivably log the death due to time conflicts, family emergency, or inability to bring two characters together in the arena, the moderator may choose to assign the alternate to be the killer.
How does gameplay work? How and where do I post?

Gameplay takes place in both the Capitol and the Arena as well as in the journals. Tributes and the Gamemakers are the only ones who can post in the Arena Community. Tributes may only post in their journals and the Capitol community before and after (if they survive) the games. All other Tribute activity (in the forms of logs and narratives) must take place in the Arena. All Support Staff and Mentors may post in either their journals or the Capitol Community at any time. Journal entries are technically blog or social network type entries. Please note strike throughs are meant to illustrate unposted or unspoken thoughts and are not actually visible as strikethroughs to those reading unless you specify that it was a "deleted comment" and then it would have been up briefly and then deleted. All logs or narratives should have a short intro in the form of who, what, where, when, and warnings and ratings and be placed behind a cut tag.

What sort of posting expectations are there in regards to how often and substance? How often can/should I post and what should I post about?

Tribute posting expectations are high. This is a posting heavy game when you are a Tribute, particularly since you want to try to win! If you do not feel you can keep up with activity, please consider not holding a Tribute or holding a Tribute who dies in the bloodbath. Tributes must post at least once a week once they are in the arena as well as check in at the weekly recap post. Tributes may not put their activity in their journals after they have left the Capitol, and all Tribute activity after that point must take place in the Arena Community. Activity may be a short log or thread with another player, a quick two or three paragraph narrative, or anything really, just something so that the audience sees you and can respond. Remember that in the arena there are cameras going twenty four seven! Want to give the viewers an eyeful? Take a bath in a stream. Show your character hunting for food, scared of the dark, or finding water at last! Your character can be homesick or plotting to take down other people. It can be anything you want and as short as a few multi-sentence paragraphs or long as you need. It must however be in third person and written from the point of view that an audience is watching. You can post as often as you want, but only one post per day will count towards lowering your Kill Slot order.

For other characters, participation is required to stay in the game from round to round, and Mentors can gain valuable sponsor funds through narratives and posts. Support staff and mentors may comment and interact in either their journals which are on a unified computer network or may log with each other in The Capitol community. Tributes may also interact with all other characters in the journals while they are still in the Capitol or via threads and logs during training (threads and logs must be within the confines of Hunger Games rules! aka no fraternization between Districts outside of the training room). Journal posting might be a great way for alliances and friendships outside districts to form and of course the Capitol doesn't want that. During the games, support staff can interact together, comment/react on what's happening in the games, and in the case of Mentors, work to get sponsors and sponsor money for their Tributes. At the end of the game, however, Support characters who have not posted at least twice a month will be put back up for grabs if the players elect to have a second games. Mentor characters who are not appropriately interacting with their Tributes and who are not participating in Sponsor activities may also be asked to leave.
I have a great idea to play someone just like Katniss! Or her grandfather/great-aunt/Peeta's long lost third cousin's brother-in-law's nephew, can I do that? No. We don't want any versions of Katniss or Peeta or any relatives of theirs. There will not be two winners. We would also like people to choose unique names, etc for their characters that are not those of any known Tributes with the exception of Mags.
What does the application involve? How detailed does it need to be? When are adds?

The application is fairly basic. It does not have to be long or involved, but enough to give the mod an idea of your character. Please fill it out completely and feel free to expound at length only if you wish. Please keep your character realistic in regards to their strengths and weaknesses and abilities. If the mod feels your character is overly talented you might be asked to adjust your concept. Most of the Tributes should not come in knowing how to fight or being in stellar physical shape. Remember which district they are from, and keep in mind that their knowledge base and abilities will heavily revolve around their home District. Adds will be done on a rolling basis up until the beginning of gameplay. Adds will be completed on May 7th for both rounds. Additional Adds will be only done on a needed basis after that point due to the short nature of the game.
What about Sponsors and Tribute Gifts? How do you figure that out?

Tributes gain sponsor points (known as Sponsor Bucks) based on Training Scores (see activity during training), for kills, and for writing logs/narratives based on claims from weekly plot posts. Mentors gain sponsor points for writing logs/narratives based on what their Tributes are doing. For the breakdown on how many and how it works, see the Sponsor Buck FAQ.

I'm just noticing this now on my flist, but the header for logs has an extra blockquote tag in the beginning that I'm guessing was from it was copied and pasted from the non-text box version, as I'm getting lot of indented headers right now.
